Every year, just as spring is about to burst, I look forward to the exhibit “Bouquets to Art” at the deYoung Museum in San Francisco. Floral artists are paired with paintings in the museum’s collections and invited to interpret the work. This year opened with a 15 foot high tornado of roses, branches, and anthuriums. Breathtaking!

I am amazed at how the designers manipulate their materials. Some of them channel the paintings literally. Others evoke the structure or emotion of the art in their work. Here are a few of my favorites from this year’s show. Inspiring!

My apologies to the floral artists represented here. I did not mark down your names, but I thank you for a glorious show!
